Beloit Man Sentenced for Distribution of Cocaine
Madison,
Wisconsin -- Erik C. Peterson, United States Attorney
for the Western District of Wisconsin, announced that
Fidel Holguin, 22, Beloit, Wis., was sentenced today
by U.S. District Judge Barbara B. Crabb to 87 months
in prison for distribution of cocaine. Holguin pleaded
guilty to this charge on September 4, 2008.
From
February 2007 to January 2008, law enforcement agents
conducted numerous controlled purchases of cocaine
from Holguin. During a court-authorized wiretap of
Holguin's telephones, agents intercepted scores of
drug-related calls between Holguin and other individuals.
In April 2008, agents executed a search warrant at
the Holguin's residence and located a large amount
of cocaine, $10,000, and two firearms. Holguin admitted
to agents that he sold large amounts of cocaine in
the Beloit area.
The
charges against Holguin were the result of an investigation
conducted by Rock County Safe Streets Task Force.
The prosecution of the case has been handled by Assistant
U.S. Attorney David J. Reinhard.
