Beloit Man Sentenced to 15 Years for Possession of Crack Cocaine
Madison, Wisconsin—Erik C. Peterson,
United States Attorney for the Western District of
Wisconsin, announced that Dion C. Lake, aka "Black," 28,
of Beloit, Wis., was sentenced today by Chief U.S.
District Judge Barbara B. Crabb to 15 years in prison,
to be followed by six years of supervised release,
for possession of crack cocaine. Lake pleaded guilty
to this charge on October 28, 2007.
An investigation
by local and federal agents demonstrated that from
2004 to 2006, Lake was involved with the distribution
of more than 1.5 kilograms of crack cocaine in the
Beloit area.
The charge against Lake was the result
of an investigation conducted by the Rock County Safe
Streets Task Force, comprised of the Federal Bureau
of Investigation; the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms
and Explosives; the Drug Enforcement Administration;
the Rock County Sheriff’s Department; the Beloit
Police Department; the Janesville Police Department;
and the Wisconsin Department of Justice, Division of
Criminal Investigation-Narcotics Bureau. To date, a
total of 52 defendants have been convicted of federal
drug and gun charges resulting from the Task Force
investigations. The prosecution of Dion Lake has been
handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert A. Anderson.
