Appleton Resident Charged with Sending, Receiving,
and Possessing
Child Pornography
United States Attorney Steven M. Biskupic
announced today that Joseph A. Fredrickson (DOB: 3/25/66)
of Appleton was indicted March 4, 2008, on six counts
related to his sending, receiving, and possessing child
pornography. If convicted, Fredrickson faces at least
five years and up to 20 years in prison on five counts
and up to 10 years in prison on the remaining count.
The public is reminded that an indictment is only a
charging document which does not carry any inference
of guilt and that Fredrickson is presumed innocent
of the charges.
A federal grand jury returned the six-count indictment,
which alleges that on multiple occasions during 2007,
Fredrickson knowingly sent and received child pornography
to an Internet chat partner in California using Google’s
Hello instant messenger program. The indictment also
alleges that on February 12, 2008, Fredrickson knowingly
possessed numerous child pornography images.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of
Investigation and is being prosecuted by the United
States Attorney’s Office of the Eastern District
of Wisconsin, Green Bay Division.
