Prison Inmate Sentenced for Heroin Possession
Madison, Wisconsin -- Erik C. Peterson, United States Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin, announced that Paul Mitchell, 30, an inmate of the Federal Correctional Institution in Oxford, Wis., was sentenced yesterday by U.S. District Judge Barbara Crabb to 27 months in prison for possession of heroin by a prison inmate. Mitchell pleaded guilty to this offense on April 30, 2008.
On November 28, 2007, prison guards searched Mitchell. In his pockets they found four small pieces of paper and a small balloon containing heroin.
The charge against Mitchell was the result of an investigation conducted by FCI Oxford Investigative Services and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The prosecution of the case has been handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Elizabeth Altman.
