Inmate Sentenced for Possession of an Object Designed to be a Weapon
Madison, Wisconsin -- Erik C. Peterson, United States Attorney for the Western
District of Wisconsin, announced that Carlan Hodges, 40, an inmate of the Federal
Correctional Institution at Oxford, Wis., was sentenced today by Chief U.S. District
Judge Barbara B. Crabb to two years in prison for possessing an object designed to be
used as a weapon. Hodges possessed the object on April 25, 2008.
Hodges pleaded guilty to this charge on July 16, 2008. Hodges’ two-year
sentence will be served consecutively to the 188-month sentence he is currently serving
for unlawful possession of firearms as a convicted felon and possession of stolen
firearms, imposed in the Southern District of Illinois in 1999.
The charge against Hodges was the result of an investigation conducted by the
Federal Bureau of Investigation. The prosecution of the case has been handled by
Assistant U.S. Attorney Rita M. Rumbelow.
