Two Men Charged with Madison Bank Robbery

MADISON, WI—Stephen P. Sinnott, Acting United States Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin, announced that a federal grand jury sitting in Madison returned an indictment today charging Wayner D. Black, 32, and Larry D. Price, 33, both of Madison, with the armed robbery of Amcore Bank on Verona Road in Madison on July 24, 2009. The indictment also charges each man with brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence.

Black and Price had been charged with the bank robbery in a complaint filed in U.S. District Court in Madison on July 30. They made an initial appearance in federal court on July 31. They will be arraigned on August 14 at 10:30 a.m.

If convicted, each defendant faces a maximum penalty of 25 years in federal prison on the armed bank robbery charge and a mandatory consecutive seven years on the brandishing a firearm charge. The charges against Black and Price are the result of an investigation by the Madison Police Department, Federal Bureau of Investigation, and Fitchburg Police Department. The prosecution of this matter has been assigned to Assistant U.S. Attorney Elizabeth Altman.

You are advised that a charge is merely an accusation and that a defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
